There was a short but not sweet round this month. After the infinite combo won the day there was a spirited discussion about how many rounds have ended this way in 2015. I think almost half the rounds this year have effectively halted in the face of one combo or another. This isn’t about picking on a certain type of deck or player. What is uppermost in my mind is the melee league as an enjoyable experience for the players. This is what keeps people coming back month after month. Or not.

So the outcome of the discussion is this:

Infinite combos are now banned. Please don’t bring them to the table. I am not going to ban specific cards or combinations of cards within decks. Players are expected to bring decks designed to win, but not through game ending combos that players out of range can’t respond to but still die to. Any combo in a deck that tries to go off will be interrupted. The infinite loop will happen once per round and that is it.

Example: You have Triskelion and Mephidross Vampire. This would normally be an infinite damage combo. Instead, You may now deal 1 point per round with Triskelion.

Please don’t bring your infinite combo decks to the melee league.

In related news, Ajani’s Chosen is now unbanned.

With that said, here are the standings after round 11. There is one more qualifying round, so Sunday 15 November will be your last chance to qualify for the finals on 13 December!
