xenagosThis red/green Satyr planeswalker in native the Theros and interested in having a good time. Xenagos costs four mana to cast, one of which must be red and another green. He enters the battlefield with three loyalty counters and has three abilities.

The first ability adds a loyalty counter, and you add x red or green mana in any combination, where x is the number of creatures you control. If you have no creatures, you still get the loyalty counter even though you won’t get any mana. Playing red and green, you should have a few creatures in pay when you cast Xenagos. If you have five or more creature sin play you’ll have more mana after you cast Xenagos and use this ability than you did before! Fine times ahead!

The second ability neither adds nor removes a loyalty counter. This ability lets you put a 2/2 red and green Satyr creature with haste on the battlefield.

The third and final ability costs six loyalty counters. With this you exile the top six cards of your library, and then put any number of land or creature cards exiled this way onto the battlefield.

Xenagos has a curious mix of abilities. The first and third abilities ask you to work with a deck with a lot of creatures. However the first ability benefits more from lots of cheap creatures, while the last ability gives you more value if you reveal a bunch of expensive creatures. The middle ability is useful, and does help feed the first ability, but does nothing for the third. In spite of this contradiction, Xenagos is a strong planeswalker and is worth building a deck around.

Verdict: Strong. Decks built around Xenagos are likely to do well in multiplayer games.
